Prince is dead at age 57. His publicist has confirmed it. You can watch live coverage here. Lord have mercy, not the great purple one! My heart is just too heavy. The only positive thing I can think to say at this moment is that, in addition to his amazing music catalog, he has left behind the world’s fiercest passport photo. Rest in Paradise my brother. There may never be another like you. A true original.
Lets take a moment of silence for Prince, and then fill the rest of the day with his music. We’ll be rocking all night!
The rest of today’s blurbs are below, but I don’t blame you if you don’t feel like reading them.
Harriet Tubman will be on the $20 bill … the third-most circulated American bill in the world. People all over the world are going to see a brown face representing the United States of America. Are you processing how historic this is? Harriet Tubman didn’t live in a time where she could ever imagine a world that celebrated her as a black woman that fought for freedom. Her legacy inspires awe and amazement. I can’t wait to hold one of those bills in my hand. I wish she could’ve held one in her hand.
Do you still watch Empire? I do. Yes, the plot holes are annoying and the lack of character development makes me want to punch a wall. Still, we’ve never seen anything like it on television. This cast of predominately black people are living such an unapologetically bombastic life and I’m so in love with seeing it every week, flaws and all.
Time’s Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list is all love. Gina Rodriguez, Aziz Ansari, Melissa McCarthy, Kendrick Lamar, Barack Obama, Nikki Haley, Stephen Curry, Tim Cook, Adele, Nicki Minaj … LOVE IT!
